The Curtis Strong Center for the Visually Impaired, a program of the NCMC Foundation, was a recommendation of the Curtis E. Strong's Eye Fund Advisory Committee, a volunteer committee comprised of community leaders in vision care in Greeley. One of only a few low vision centers in Colorado, The Curtis Strong Center for the Visually Impaired was established in August 2004 and offers comprehensive low vision evaluations; optical and non-optical adaptive devices; and customized life skills training.
Through his will, Mr. Strong created a fund to provide eye care services for the benefit of patients of North Colorado Medical Center. |
The Curtis Strong Center in Greeley is Operated by the Ensight Skills Center of Fort Collins.
Our highly qualified staff is comprised of a local optometrist, trained in low vision evaluation services from The Lighthouse in New York City, and a certified orientation and mobility rehabilitation specialist with over 30 years experience working with the blind and visually impaired.
The Center's typical client has a vision loss that cannot be corrected medically or surgically. Most clients struggle (even with corrective glasses) to read the newspaper, pay bills, follow a recipe, read food labels, or see the computer screen. The Center's purpose is to assist these individuals to maximize the vision they currently possess.
The Center is open on Fridays for walk-in appointments from 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Other appointment times are available and may be arranged by calling 970-353-9417. Payment in full is required prior to services being provided. Scholarships are available for individuals who qualify based upon financial need.
